The archery trail and range at Summersville Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) have reopened following significant updates by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR). This popular facility is now available for public use, thanks to collaborative efforts involving the WVDNR, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Summersville Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Director Brett McMillion of the WVDNR expressed gratitude to the collaborating parties, saying, “On behalf of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, I would like to thank the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Summersville Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation for their assistance in this project. We are thrilled to be able to reopen such an important facility for our state.”
Located at the end of Summersville Airport Road, the archery trail features a five-target practice range to hone skills before embarking on a half-mile, 15-target course. The trail is open from sunrise to sunset and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
